Latte art: a culinary art form of preparing coffee with steamed milk and espresso which results in a beautiful pattern on the surface.  Creating a crisp white design on the dark background of espresso has been growing in popularity since the 1980’s. Originating in Italy, Baristas, or latte artists perfect their skills, which take years to master. Latte artists carefully create these hand crafted designs by etching or free pouring into the foam of the coffee. The goal is to generate a design that is appealing to the eye, but is also tasty to the tongue. Although it takes a lot of practice to master the skill of latte art, the technique of creating designs in coffee can be done at home. With steamed milk, espresso, and the right utensils and tools, you can create beautiful masterpieces right in the comfort of your own home!
