Longtime Maui Wowi franchise owner, Mary Bigler is a testament to the popularity and versatility of the business. Located in Minnesota, Mary’s Maui Wowi carts have grown a large following at some of the state’s busiest events; even in the dead of winter.
Each year, Mary rolls her carts into three of her largest volume events; Girls State Hockey, Minnesota State High School Wrestling, and Boys State Hockey, and each year, she out does herself. She and her crew of “smoothie slingers” stand behind the tiki hut-inspired mobile carts and as she says, they get “rocking.”
“My three largest volume events keep growing year after year! Every year I think we cannot out-do last year, but we did it again!” said Mary.
These tournament events take place over the course of several days and draw large crowds. During the Boys State Hockey, a four day, 16 game tournament, Mary says Maui Wowi is one of the most popular items at the venue. This year, she added an additional cart at the event and served up over 10,000 smoothies!
Aside from the delicious tasting smoothies, which are made with probiotic yogurt, fruit puree, and a fresh banana, another big attraction that draws plenty of customers at youth sports events like the ones Mary works, are the colorful collectible tiki cups. Mary even offers discounted tiki refills at some of her events and customers love it!
As Mary’s winter events wrap up for the season, she and other Maui Wowi franchisees all across the country are gearing up for spring and summer. Operating a year-round business means there’s always something to look forward to. With warm weather comes farmer’s markets, outdoor concerts, festivals, graduation parties, weddings, and much more.
